Consumer Focus

Consumers (people who have suffered from a mental health problem) are increasingly interested in participating in and managing their own health. Internet technology provides an ideal tool for facilitating such empowerment. e-hub is therefore underpinned by a strong consumer focus and is closely aligned with the Depression & Anxiety Consumer Research Unit (CRU) at the Centre for Mental Health Research. A number of ehub staff have experienced a depressive or anxiety illness and can therefore bring a consumer perspective to the work of the hub. In addition, e-hub has a strong program of work in the field of consumer informatics.

Current funding support

The ongoing delivery of e-hub's web services free of charge to the public (e-couch, MoodGYM, BlueBoard and BluePages) is made possible through funding provided by the Australian Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing.

Specific research projects are supported by grants from:

NHMRC Principal Research Fellowships
NHMRC Project Grants
Lifeline Australia
ARC Linkage Grant
Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation (MoodGYM in Schools Trial)

In addition, previous funding support for our e-health programs has been provided by the ACT Department of Health & Community Services (BluePages, MoodGYM), the ANU (MoodGYM Mark I, MoodGYM Mark II), beyondblue (e-couch) and the Australian Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing (BluePages, MoodGYM in Schools).
