Studying for a PhD, Michelle is researching consumer priorities for depression and bipolar research. Michelle also works on a variety of projects including examining the quality of depression websites, side effects of antidepressants and interventions for improving sleep.

Helen Christensen

Helen’s research interests include prevention and early intervention in depression and anxiety, the development of public health interventions for depression, anxiety and other mental disorders, the use of Internet technology in conducting randomized controlled trials, the integration of Internet and other tools in health services, risk factors for anxiety and depression, cognitive ageing and mental health across the lifespan.

Lou Farrer

Lou is a Clinical PhD student working on a collaborative project between CMHR and Lifeline Australia. She is examining the effectiveness of web-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and psychoeducation in lowering depression in Lifeline callers, when supported by telephone counsellors. She will also investigate factors that predict adherence to Internet-based interventions.

Dr Kathy Griffiths, e-hub Director

Kathy Griffiths

Kathy’s research interests include consumer informatics (and particularly the evaluation of the quality of Internet-based health information), the development and evaluation of Internet psycho-educational, early intervention and preventive interventions, the evaluation of online self help communities, and the use of the Internet in reducing stigma. She also leads a number of consumer focused projects including consumer priorities for research, consumer reports of treatment effectiveness, consumer information needs and the evaluation of stigma associated with depression. Kathy is a Senior Fellow and is also the Director of the Depression & Anxiety Consumer Research Unit.

Amelia Gulliver

Amelia Gulliver

Amelia is a PhD research student and research assistant working on various projects within ehub. Her past projects have included a systematic review of models of primary mental health care for depression/and or anxiety, and a systematic review examining models/treatments for comorbid substance use disorders and the high prevalence disorders of depression and/or anxiety.

Elspeth’s research interests include consumer and practitioner participation in research, recovery and mental health promotion and prevention, subjective experiences of mental health problems, and coping and social support. Elspeth is currently involved in the What Works for Us online depression survey.

Alison is a PhD student and research assistant at e-hub. She works on various e-hub and CRU projects, including the YouthMood project. The YouthMood project is investigating whether MoodGYM, an interactive web program, is effective in lowering depression, improving self-esteem, and lowering stigmatising attitudes to depression amongst adolescents.
