ECCO Project

This project is a collaboration between e-hub and Lifeline Australia.

Lifeline

A trial is currently being developed to test whether Lifeline callers will benefit from having access to evidence-based interventions for treating depression. The aim of this project is to assess the acceptability, feasibility and usefulness of telephone and Internet assisted tools in aiding Lifeline counsellors to deliver mental health help.

The project will use a randomised controlled trial to assess whether the MoodGYM and BluePages sites are effective at reducing symptoms of depression when used as an adjunct to telephone counselling. These resources have been previously shown to reduce depression symptoms in a population with elevated depressive symptomatology. The project will also show whether tracking callers through the interventions (calling them back at regular intervals) has more of an effect than not tracking callers.

Initial inquiries about this project may be directed to Lou Farrer.
